SamplePrep 8000M Mixer/Mill ball mill

Description

SPEX SamplePrep 8000M Mixer/Mill is a high-energy ball mill designed for rapid and efficient grinding, mixing, and homogenizing of small sample volumes. It is widely used for mechanical alloying, sample preparation prior to XRF or XRD analysis, and for pulverizing brittle materials such as minerals, ceramics, and plant tissues. The mill uses a vibrational clamping mechanism that agitates the grinding vial in a figure-eight motion, ensuring thorough mixing and particle size reduction. Capable of processing samples in the 2 to 10 g range, it accommodates a variety of grinding vial materials including stainless steel, tungsten carbide, and agate. The 8000M operates at a frequency of approximately 1,060 cycles per minute, enabling fast and repeatable results. Its compact, benchtop design and simple operation make it ideal for use in research laboratories focused on material science, environmental studies, and analytical chemistry. Safety features include an interlocking cover and timer-controlled operation for unattended use.
