Description
An automated sediment-core-scanning system equipped with a high-resolution hyperspectral camera working in the visual to near-infrared range (400 to 1000 nm). The SCS is a non-destructive hyperspectral scanner designed for studying sediment cores. It is used for detecting organic compounds in lake and marine sediment cores. This method is cost- and time-efficient, and provides insight into the spatiotemporal structures of bio-geochemical species at a very high degree of detail.
