Microtox Model 500 Analyzer

Description

An in vitro testing system that uses bioluminescent Vibrio fisheri bacteria to detect toxins in water and sediment, providing acute toxicity and genotoxic analyses. To analyze samples bacteria in a freeze-dried state are reconstituted in a salt solution, diluted with 250 microlitres of a Microtox reagent, then 1 mililitre of water sample is added to 100 microlitres of the reconstituted bacteria. Luminescence readings are taken prior and 5-15 minutes after the addition. Inhibition data results are displayed as absolute light units.
