The microscope enables examination within the range of magnification of x5 - x6000; All lenses are telecentric. The device is equipped with a fully automatic table - it enables to make surface scans / photographs of an object of maximum dimensions 100x100 mm and weight not exceeding 5 kg (on the table); The movable measuring head enables examination and measurement on objects not lying on the table. In case of off-table tests the magnification range is x20 - x200. Microscope software enables taking images using mosaic technique in three dimensions. On such images it is possible to measure (e.g. surface profile). The software allows for image analysis, e.g. grain counting.

Apparatus available in accordance with the Research Infrastructure Management System. Apparatus to be operated only by a designated, trained employee of the Ship Technology and Construction Department. Possibility of using it on commercial terms or as part of an academic cooperation agreement. In case of academic cooperation, co-authorship in scientific publications from the JCR list may be a form of settlement of the agreement. Possibilities of access, rules and potential dates must be agreed with the supervisor of the apparatus.
